Operating Modes
AUTOTEST Stage 1: Go/No Go test
Instant test for fast Go/NoGo decisions. Tests a mobile phone in less than 1 minute. By pressing the AUTOTEST button the Wavetek 4100 series will test all essential functions and display PASS or FAIL giving the measured channels. After selecting one of the displayed channels, the 4100 series gives more specific information. For example: "Phase error too high"; can be viewed by pressing Enter, and the measured values and the limits are shown on the display. All the measured parameters can be stored or printed.
FAULT FIND MODE Stage 2: Fault Find modes
To service or repair the defective mobile phone, this mode allows users to manually force all conditions which arise in using phones on a network (e.g. MS Call, Handoff). The FAULT FIND MODE permanently displays all measured parameters and runs in a continuous loop.
The 4100 tester gives you more than just visual Go/No Go results. Precise result logs can be printed and displayed.

Flexibility from user-defined software
Beside the internal test software provided, the 4100 series allows downloading of additional test software. Writing individual software is as easy as using the 4100 series. The 4100 Utility software, running with MS-Windows, allows you to create individual test programs. GSM 1800/1900 test sequences can be programmed as well as specific parameters or limits. A compiler included in the Utility checks if the programmed tests are executable.

All 4100 series testers can communicate with a PC via a serial interface (RS-232-C) and with most printers using the standard Centronics port.
Everybody can use this tester with only a few minutes of training. Features such as: user guidance on the display, one button operation and an integrated HELP function, makes you familiar with GSM testing instantly. You can choose between different languages: English, German, Spanish and French.

Typical Test Sequence
Use the adapter supplied to connect the mobile to the 4100.
Start AUTOTEST and follow the instructions on the display.
Message PASSED: Mobile is technically okay. You may need to offer advice to the customer on system coverage, mobile operation or battery charging.
Message FAIL: Locate defect in FAULT FIND mode. Repair mobile or send printed result test log in together with the mobile.
Optional:
Load data memory of 4100 tester into PC, perform statistical evaluation at regular intervals and transfer via Internet to factory service.
