Electrodata's TTS 3, EZ-TESTERr is truly the most powerful, versatile and easy-to-use hand held T-carrier test set you can buy. Equipped with all the basic and advanced tests needed for installing, testing and maintaining T1 span components and CSUs, the EZ-TESTER is an affordable, compact, hand-held unit that can be used anywhere along the T1 span. The portable set weighs less than three pounds, is housed in a rugged metal case, contains rechargeable batteries and can operate in temperatures from below 0ºF to 140ºF.
USER FRIENDLY
The EZ-TESTER is so user friendly that even the most inexperienced technician can quickly learn to operate it. A large display window presents a graphical view of the current test setup, while a guided menu structure directs an operator through all test procedures and results. Menus are organized in a logical sequence to minimize "button pushing," and when you need a test function it's right at your fingertip. The EZ-TESTER even has a "quick test" feature to verify a span setup before a full conformance test is initiated.
ADVANCED FEATURES ARE STANDARD
The EZ-TESTER contains many advanced features for testing complex T1 circuits. A distance-to-loopback feature can verify loopback location or locate a faulty device. Signaling bits can be displayed for all 24 channels simultaneously. All major test patterns, including DDS patterns and a digital milliwatt for channel bank alignment, are included in the EZ-TESTER. In addition, up to eight long user patterns can be stored and recalled. Data or vf tones can be dropped out or inserted into any channel and connections are provided for an external device to source or receive vf signals on a selected channel. A push-to-talk feature even allows the channel to be used for "order wire" communications.
WE'VE ADDED CDI DETECTION
Electrodata is the first test set manufacturer to add detection of the Customer Disconnect Indicator (CDI) signal as both a standard feature and a free retrofit to the EZ-TESTER. CDI is a DS1 idle signal provided for in the new ANSI T1.403 standard, and is currently being added to the NIU (Smart Jack) between the Customer and Carrier. CDI provides a positive identification of loss-of-signal from the customer, and allows a service technician to distinguish between a failure in the carrier's network and the customer's equipment. During Auto Configuration, the EZ-TESTER will detect the CDI pattern and display "CDI DS1 IDLE" for TEST PATTERN.

As testing needs change, the EZ-Tester's OnCall feature lets you easily add new capabilities tailored to your most demanding requirements. No complicated computer software, exchanging of program cards or shipping back the test set is required. Using a simple modem and a telephone connection, the EZ-TESTER updates itself automatically, while in the field. The EZ-TESTER makes the call and assures the integrity of all data.
