Product Description:
Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38 9kHz to 40GHz Spectrum Analyzer
The Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38 spectrum analyzer is a wide band, very sensitive receiver. It works on the principle of "super-heterodyne receiver" to convert higher frequencies (normally ranging up to several 10s of GHz) to measurable quantities. The received frequency spectrum is slowly swept through a range of pre-selected frequencies, converting the selected frequency to a measurable DC level (usually logarithmic scale), and displaying the same on the CRT of the Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38. The CRT displays received signal strength (y-axis) against frequency ( x-axis).
Some applications for Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38 Spectrum Analyzers include Site Monitoring: Verify that the frequency and signal strength of your transmitter is accurate. Interference: Before a system is installed you use a Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38 spectrum analyzer to verify that the frequencies (you plan to use) are not occupied or if the presence of a very strong signal will interfere with your new setup. Interference can be created by a number of different situations. Other tests that utilize the Rohde & Schwarz, Inc. FSP-38 spectrum analyzer features include antenna isolation, co-channel interference, adjacent channel power, occupied bandwidth, intermodulation, microwave or satellite antenna alignment, and characterization of components.
The Rohde & Schwarz FSP-38 is the replacement for the Agilent E4407 selected by the US Navy. It features the smallest level measurement uncertainty in its class, and has excellent RF characteristics as well as being physically robust & reliable.

This NAVICP model is delivered with:- FSP-B1: Rugged Factory-Fitted Case
- Meets requirements of MIL-PRF-28800F, Class 3. It is the ruggedized case with rubber bumpers and tilt-bail handle.
- FSP-B4: OCXO Oven Controller Crystal Oscillator
- This option improves the aging of the frequency reference to 1x10-7 per year, and also improves the temperature drift to 1x10-8.
- FSP-B10: External Generator Control
- The FSP-B10 option uses commercial RF signal generators as its external tracking source that can be controlled via the GPIB or a TTL bus. With this option the functionality of the internal tracking generator can be utilized:
- Normalization with interpolation also for reflection measurements with open and short
- Automatic bandwidth measurement with "n dB down" function
- Tolerance lines with PASS/FAIL assessment
- FSP-B20: Extended Environmental Specification
- Operating temperature range extended to, from 0 to 50 deg C , the permissible temperature range extended to, from 0 to 55 deg C , and the random vibration specification increased to 1.9 G. This is accomplished by replacing the hard disk drive normally provided as standard with other FSP models with Electronic Flash Memory Disks. (Without this option operating temperature is only from +5C to +40C and vibration is only to 1 G).
